This year’s ACR meeting was held virtually and the Molecular Rheumatology research group were well represented. Well done to Dr. Mary Canavan, Dr. Viviana Marzaioli and Dr. Clare Cunningham who held abstract and poster sessions at the conference and were given the opportunity to field questions regarding their laboratory and patient- focused research.
Irish Society for Rheumatology Autumn Meeting 24th-25th September 2020
Congratulations to the members of the Molecular Rheumatology research group who gave brilliant presentations at the ISR virtual conference. Dr. Clare Cunningham, Dr. Achilleas Floudas and PhD candidate Serena Foo gave an insight into the role fibroblasts and T cells play in mediating arthritis.

Congratulations to Dr.Achilleas Floudas who presented at both the poster and abstract sessions at the 2019 ACR/ARP Annual Meeting in Atlanta,Georgia! Achilleas presented on “Increased T Cell Polyreactivity with Marked Accumulation of TNF-α DP (CD4+ CD8+) in the Synovial Tissue of pre-RA, Arthralgia Subjects” and on “Hypoxia Resistant Pathogenic B Cells Accumulate in the RA Synovial Tissue in a CXCR3 Dependent Manner”.

Congratulations to our very own Achilleas Floudas who took part in Cytokines 2019, the 7th Annual Meeting of the International Cytokine and Interferon Society in Vienna from the 20th-23rd of October. This meeting has become the world’s most distinguished annual conference showcasing basic, clinical and translational research on cytokines and their roles in host defence, inflammation, tissue repair and cancer.

New Horizons in Rheumatology 2018
New Horizons in Rheumatology meeting will be held on on Monday 12th & Tuesday 13th November 2018 at The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, No. 6 Kildare Street, Dublin.
The programme, which has been established through a number of partnerships with our European & US colleagues & the Centre for Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases, seeks to deliver an educational forum which provides physicians, trainees and nursing colleagues with the opportunity to experience, review and discuss the key issues in Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases and novel therapies thereof.
The agenda for this meeting has been developed by an independent steering group of consultants.
The American College of Rheumatology’s Annual Meeting is taking place this year in Chicago, Illinois from the 19th-24th October.
This meeting is lauded as an educational experience of the highest quality, with sessions provided by leading experts in the field of rheumatology. The meeting offers the opportunity for professional development, to access first-hand the latest in rheumatology research and to connect with likeminded rheumatology clinicians.

The Irish Society for Rheumatology (ISR) is an organisation of about 150 members with specialist training in Rheumatology. Some are Consultants (i.e. trained medical specialists), others are trainees, with some members being scientists and researchers. The Society includes those who are based in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, the rest of the UK and some from further afield. They organise and host regular platforms and conferences allowing members to present clinical and scientific material.
ISR Autumn Meeting 2018 was held on the 20 and 21 September, 2018 in Killashee Hotel, Naas, Co Kildare.
